NRX Coatings offers two high-performance topcoats to complete your NRX Nanoprime system: CoverThane and CoverTough. Choose CoverThane, our water-based polyurethane topcoat, for a durable finish. For the ultimate in protection against wear and tear, select CoverTough, our two-part abrasion-resistant epoxy coating. Both topcoats are designed to seamlessly integrate with and enhance the foundational strength of the NRX Nanoprime system, providing a complete solution for your specific application needs.

Composition & Safety

Odorless and Non-Hazardous 🌿

CoverThane is an odorless, waterborne coating that contains no volatile solvents, isocyanate, or other hazardous materials, making it a safer option for indoor applications.

Contains Hazardous Materials ⚠️

Many two-part epoxy coatings contain VOCs and isocyanates, which can be hazardous and may require special ventilation during application.

Curing & Dry Time

Fast-Drying & Rapid Hardness ⏱️

This coating cures at room temperature and has a rapid hardness development, allowing for multiple coats to be applied in a single day. It's ready for normal foot traffic in 10-12 hours.

Longer Curing Time ⏳

Epoxy coatings generally have a longer cure time, often requiring 24 hours or more before they can withstand foot traffic.

Appearance & UV Resistance

Excellent UV Resistance & Gloss Retention ✨

The aliphatic nature of CoverThane provides excellent non-yellowing properties and outstanding UV resistance, allowing it to retain its appearance for a long time, even in exterior applications.

Prone to Yellowing ☀️

Most epoxy coatings are not UV stable and can yellow or chalk over time, making them less suitable for outdoor use or areas with direct sunlight.

Durability

Flexible & Abrasion-Resistant 💪

CoverThane provides a unique balance of toughness, aesthetics, and resistance to abrasion, scuffs, and scratches. It is resistant to common household chemicals and cleaners.

Hard & Brittle 🔨

While very hard, two-part epoxy coatings can be brittle and may chip or crack under heavy impact. They are highly resistant to chemicals and abrasion but can be susceptible to scratching.

Application & Use

Versatile for High-Traffic Areas 🏃

This coating is recommended for both interior and exterior topcoat applications on a variety of surfaces, including metallic structures, storage tanks, and high-traffic areas like sport floors or retail environments.

Primarily for Industrial Floors 🏭
